To strengthen women movement, the birth of Jyotirmayee Mahila Samiti (JMS) in the year 1978 marked. This Non-Government organization registertered under 1860 society registration act and FCR act.
The organization is working since 25 years for the rural poor women and children and guiding for sustain livelihood to poorest of the poor.This is a Non-profit organization manged by 7 rural dedicated women social workers with 7000 general body members.
Goal: - Empowerment of rural women and children and youth.
Aims and objectives: -
- Poverty alleviation.
- All round development of the children.
- Socio economic programs for the rural woman and girls.
- Informal lending and borrowing to raise income level of rural poor women.
- To provide health care for rural poor children and mother.
Major Activities :-
- Education guarantee schemes for disadvantaged children (Age-group - 6-14).
- Open basic education for poor children.
- Health for rural poor children.
- Malnutrition rehabilitation center for poor mal nourished children.and Anemic mother.
- Relief, rehabilitation and livelihood restoration program for the victims of super cyclone / flood affected areas of Kendrapara dist.,Orissa,India
- Micro credit to rural poor women.
- Environmental sanitation program for children.
- Balbhavan activities for creative and innovative children.
- YES network to provide youth with opportunities for creating livelihoods based on 6 Es i.e employability, employment creation, Equity, enterpreneurship, environmental sustainability, and empowerment, The YES campaign is working to build capacity of young people to create sustainable livelihood and establish and enterpreneural culture where on young people will work towards self employment.
